Additional Awards
The CWEPA Board expects a high degree of professional conduct from all Division of Wildlife employees; however, personnel frequently perform their duties exceeding the highest expectations. When such conduct occurs, official commendations will be presented. Additionally, the Board will honor those citizens who assist CPW officer(s) or the agency beyond their normal civic responsibilities. Commendations may originate from within the Division or from citizens. The Board will be responsible for evaluating, classifying, and presenting the awards.
1: Medal of Honor - Those commissioned officers who lose their life in the performance of duty.
2: Medal of Valor - Those commissioned officers who perform service above and beyond the call of duty and display courage under conditions which manifest an imminent risk of death or bodily injury.
3: Medal of Merit - Those commissioned officers who perform service above and beyond the call of duty for an action which has been performed with such outstanding excellence that it is set apart from the normal exercise of competent service.
4: Lifesaving Medal - To be awarded to any CPW employee who is directly responsible for saving human life.
5: CWEPA Board Award - To be awarded to show appreciation for heroism or outstanding service by members of other law enforcement agencies who act in cooperation with CPW.
6: Civilian Medal of Distinction - To be awarded to a citizen or civilian employee for exceptional bravery at the risk of serious bodily injury or death while assisting CPW personnel.
7: Citizen Award of Appreciation - To be awarded to a citizen who provided outstanding assistance to the CPW above and beyond their normal civil responsibilities.
